Shortest Day of the Year
Today marks the shortest day, and despite being so near to the Christmas season, the limited daylight can leave us feeling quite disconnected from the joyful and festive emotions we associate with this time.
A way to benefit ourselves is by adhering to our homeschool Health Education program and incorporating daily exercise. A fundamental lesson from this program is to go outdoors and draw inspiration from our environment, including the nature and wildlife around us. Primroses and hellebores may begin blooming in late December, while snowdrops and winter aconites will soon emerge, so ensure you are walking in woodlands where these plants can be observed.
It is vital to continue to feed the birds visiting your garden and providing fresh, clean water.
If you're truly feeling down and merely pretending to be okay when visiting family, or if family members are urging you to "cheer up," it's important to express your low mood and seek assistance. The initial step is to let someone know that you're not feeling happy and that this has been the case for some time.
