Homeschool Garden Club - Games to Play: Red Rover
You will need a few friends - now that the covid rules have changed that won't be so hard to manage.
The aim of this boisterous game is to break the opposites team's line using your body weight without hurting them.
You will need:
An adult to supervise the game to ensure it does not get too rough.
and a timer for the length of time you can try to capture the prisoners.
How to play:
To divide everyone up into equal teams.
Agree together
a: how long you will have to capture the prisoners.
b: how long the game will last.
c: how much force is the right amount of force to capture the prisoner.
Choose a leader for each team.
Line up the two teams facing each other.
Join hands with the members of your team.
The leader of the opposite team chooses a player form your team and calls out:
"Red Rover, Red Rover, let (names a person on the other team e.g. Tommy) come over."
The teams come together and using their weight try to break the named person away from their linked team mates.
If you manage to break them free, you get to take them prisoner.
Take it in turns to name and capture.
When the time is up - the other team gets a turn.
The team with biggest numbers at the end of the agreed time is the winning team.

You can add this to your evidence diary under PSHE - agreeing to work with others and agreeing the rules needed to make the game work.
