Home School Health Education - Walking
Now that the weather is getting better, our Home School Health Education is moving on to walking along the River Thames!
Most of us walk daily as a means of transportation, which is a simple, cost-free activity that doesn't need any equipment and carries a minimal risk of injury. Due to its lower intensity compared to other cardio exercises, walking is a suitable option for individuals with joint problems that could be aggravated by high-impact activities like running or jumping.
Walking can be as simple or challenging as you choose to make it. You have the option to enhance the intensity by either increasing your pace or incorporating uphill walking. To maximise the fitness advantages of walking, it is essential to walk briskly in order to elevate your heart rate!
Walking is a convenient and flexible choice, but it does come with two constraints. Your walking distance is limited by the time available, and your pace can only increase up to a point before transitioning into a run becomes necessary to continue moving forward.
However, this week we are starting with the first of 15 hikes along The River Thames, while relishing the companionship of good friends and Study Buddies.
